Why you feature stolen work?!?!Lately there seem to have been a few myths flying around in particular with regards to how we as Community Volunteers, give Daily Deviations. Many people seem to think that we sit at our desks in dark little rooms and let out evil laughter whilst we purposefully feature stolen work. The dark rooms and laughter - well I can't say yes or no on that one! But I can promise you it's not our intent to give exposure to people who have stolen work. I recently featured a piece of work that turned out to be stolen. However I went into extensive conversations with the artist before I featured it, and with added metadata and dates, it's difficult to know where to draw the line. I've given people the benefit of the doubt before - and it's worked out nicely as their work has been legitimate. Below are some comments I have seen being thrown around the past few days - and hopefully an attempt to bust the myth.

It started off as stock I can’t provide myself so I look for other peoples so I can suggest them. The way I choose is quite odd, when I see a stock image I have an instant image in my head of what I could do or create out of that piece of stock. The image also has to be crystal clear and easily altered.

=PattiPix was too kind to suggest me for a DD and ^PirateLotus-Stock to feature it, and I greatly appreciate them both! :D
Most of the feedback has been great! Lots of faves and downloads, and several nice comments. However, it seems like there is always at least one person who has to say something contrary on DD's...
Please understand! This account is a STOCK account. I do not submit anything to this gallery that is not stock (deviantID's aside). That means that nothing in my gallery is meant to be seen as a work of art. My stock photos are not a finished work! If you want to see what Photgraphy I do dabble in, look at my main art account.
To compare to would be ridiculous. ~nassimhasan obviously took the time to come up with a vision, set up his shot, tweak his settings, and possibly make corrections in post-production. It's a fantastic example of

Stock images or program resources are materials created with the express intent that they may be used by other artists in their own artwork. Use of these materials are subject to the artist's license, which may or may not require the payment of fees and the documentation of sources used.
The use of such materials at deviantART is only permissible if you document your source material (attribution) and can provide a link, along with proof that you have satisfied the terms set in the artist's license. We strongly recommend that you credit your resource provider(s).
All artwork submitted to deviantART that uses third party source material must follow the license set by the provider. As the creator of the source material, the provider is able to set specific licenses for different materials and so you must check that you are following the license for each used material.

STOCK CONTEST - INSPIRATIONG'day folks,
I am two days over due, but here it is. A contest ONLY for stock!
The theme is 'Inspiration'
And I can hear some of you already going... "What the??? That is a bit BROAD!"
Well there is a twist.
You need to find inspiration from another stock artist.
The idea of this is to push you outside of your comfort zone and create an stock image (or series) that you never thought you would create.
Which other stock artist do you watch and go "Wow!", I wish I could be more like them?
To be clear, this is not having you re-create their image/ series. It is about you taking inspiration from that series and putting your own spin on it

RULES
HELP NEEDED!!! (on a new project)About Project 'stock-A-zine'...
As you all can read in the description of the Magazine Concept, I was looking for a challenge that could contribute to my personal portfolio. As a member of the deviantart stock community, I didn't have to think long or hard to figure out a subject for this project.
As in normal life, a magazine is compiled, designed and edited by teams of people with a various set of skills. As for this project...  I can't do it all alone. This magazine is going to be (or I hope it will) a huge collaboration between me, the whole DA community (with any relation to stock) and deviantART itself!
English is not my main language, but I do alright, for online communities, I guess. At writing journalistic, editorial stuff, I know I can not compete with native English writers. Also the amount of written content in a magazine would be too much for one person to write in a considerable amount of time.
That's where I would like to call in the help of
Stock and Resources Updates Feb 2013Heading Into 2013
We are well on our way towards the warmer part of the year for those of us who live in the Northern Hemisphere, and whilst we shake off our winter blues and snow boots, our Southern Stockers have been wowing us with new beautiful stock and resources (whilst sweltering in the heat!)
Gallery Cleanup
The gallery cleanup is still going on, but with a reminder to be patient with us, we know its not easy but we have a very VERY big gallery and just a few people (mostly just Erin and myself) tackling the issue, but its not been forgotten or ignored. Erin and I are also very busy with home life as well ;)
If you feel we've missed out on a sub category (sadly this is very likely right now as we concentrate our efforts on the most used/submitted to areas) please feel free to note us and point us in the right direction!

It's Christmas time! In celebration, ^Athos-of-Light and I wanted to have a bit of festive fun. So we decided to bring some holiday cheer with a murotastic contest.

This is an open contest, you can draw anything you want as long as it's Christmas related!
For example: Santa, Christmas tree, Rudolph, Jesus, etc...
