What does this strange magic mean for stock and resource providers?!
Well that depends on you - the stock or resource provider. We all know that for some years now many of us have been offering "exclusive/donation/pay for" stock/resource packs that require artists to make a paypal donation/or send us DA points. The content is then emailed to them, or a link is sent to give them access to this paid for content.
We all know its the biggest pain in the ass going. Emails back and forth, trying to get paypal donation buttons to work, endless frustration with artists not being able to get hold of the content they have paid for because their email won't accept large files. Yep - we've all been there!
There was significant hope given to us with the discussions surrounding the
- which turned out not to be entirely what we hoped it was going to be.Effectively, DA's new Premium Content Platform gives us the change to cut out all those "middlemen" no more faffing to get our exclusive packs to artists who pay us. No more frustration with paypal. All those "exclusive/donation" packs can now be uploaded direct to DA for our artists to pay for and download immediately.
"DA takes all the profit; doing it myself I get all the money" This is, and isn't true. No other pro stock site gives the artist 80% of the profits the way DA is doing. Da is simplifying the process, giving you valuable protection and site wide access unlike the current "paypal donation" system. I think getting 80% profit is rather grand!
Premium Content Platform is going to make everyone remove their free stock!!!
There are an ASTONISHING amount of artists suddenly claiming that we are all going to remove our free stock and that GASP they are going to have to start paying for our hard work
Firstly - clearly these artists don't really have much of an understanding of our stock and resources community and why we provide stock in the first place.
Secondly - not one single stock or resource provider I have spoken to (so far) about the premium content platform have told me they will no longer be offering free stock. In fact the most common response to this rumour is a raised eyebrow and sad shaking of virtual heads.

In conclusion...
As a stock provider, I have NO intention of removing my free stock, or not ever posting new free stock to my account. The Premium content platform enables us to continue doing by way of "exclusive/donation" stock packs exactly what we have been doing for many years which has never affected the free stock we provide! I will be updating my "exclusive/donation" packs to the new PCP though
As a stock provider, knowing how long we have been asking for some way to sell our exclusive packs here on DA I am extremely excited by the potential that the Premium Content Platform gives us to expand, share and create as we have always done, and will continue to do - to give back to the community we are part of.
