I have been away! (Bet you didn't notice!!
)
Lee and I were at Minamicon this weekend just gone for a long weekend filled with anime, manga, and all round good times. As usual we dragged *Amazonofexeter along for the ride
I somehow managed to get one of the more weirdly named prizes in the Masquerade for my C.C. artbook costume, I was in a bit of a daze at the time but it had something to do with how big my dress was. (I must add that no small people or orphans were harmed carrying around my voluminous skirts all weekend!
So, now thats over and done with I will do stock as soon as I find some convenient time. It was far too bloody cold at the weekend to take more than 1 or 2 shots just to show the dress off.
I still also have snow shots to post from earlier in the year.
I still also have contest winners which are waiting for prizes, I promise I've not forgotten you, you are at the top of my list of things to do now I am back!! <3
Gallery Description Project and Thumbnail fixes.
By now you will all have read/seen/used the new submit page where the galleries now have examples and a full description of what you should be posting where. Its taken a huge amount of time and effort but I believe all the galleries are now up to date and have appropriate thumbnail examples. HOWEVER!! We are only human, and there may well be the odd error/typo/thumbnail issue that needs double checking, so if you do spot an issue, please please do let us know so we can let Danie know there is a problem!!

1. New Submission Process and Thumbnail Examples
In my opinion, one of the greatest advantages to the New Submission Process, are the thumbnail examples and descriptions that appear when you're selecting a category. It's no secret that we have misplaced deviations throughout the galleries and it's probably the most complained about topic I deal with on a daily basis. My team and I have been working hard to improve the descriptions and thumbnail examples for all of the galleries, and I'm happy
Gallery Cleanup - Still in progress!
A quick reminder that we are still making every attempt to keep on top of the celeb crap and non stock being submitted to or galleries, however please don't forget that our gallery is one of the biggest on DA, and theres only a few of us working on it. We do as much as we can, but we aren't miracle workers (sadly). Real life takes precedence (as it has for me the last few weeks) so your patience and understanding are appreciated! If you feel there are any particular sub categories needing extreme intervention just drop Erin or myself a note - we try and focus on the most popular areas so there will be cases where smaller sub categories look pretty bad.

About sxc.hu stockGreetings!
A few of you have been really worried lately about using stock from sxc.hu here because of the change in their ownership. Basically, you were concerned that their license says that you cannot redistribute their stock in whole or in part, by itself or combined with other elements, without the written approval of the original photographer.
As we all know by now, creating a photomanipulation is considered "making a derivative image." And we know we can't make premade backgrounds without permission from the photographers, as doing so is redistributing their work.
I advised a couple of you to check with the Help Desk and sxc.hu to find out the whole truth before making rash decisions about your group that could potentially make everyone panic.
Using my own personal account, I wrote to sxc.hu to find out what the story was. Here's what I said:
I was just wondering whether creating phot

The Danger of Model RequestsHiya Darlings,
So some of you may remember a while back when ^Elandria asked us to spread the message about what is, and is not an appropriate stock requests for model stock. Keep in mind that this applies to both female and male models. I ran across an article in the news today that made me want to bring that subject back into the spotlight.
3 Missing Colorado Women Have Online Modeling Profiles
This really disturbed me, as I know that quite a few models here on dA also have modeling profiles on ModelMayhem. The internet can be a wonderful place to gain exposure for your art and build your modeling portfolio. Unfortunately, if I may borrow a line from Melissandre, the internet is also "dark and full of terrors." There really are monsters out there, and you should always proceed with caution. Never assume that it "can't happen to you." I know that it can happen to you.
I really want you to take the time to re-read (or read it for the first time) :

Much Ado About Mucha Art Nouveau Contest
Both ~TouchFeel and *HiddenRelevance have a long running love for Alfonse Mucha's gorgeous Art Nouveau paintings and advertisements. The flowing hair and draping fabric added to the lovely scroll work and framing just takes our breath away.
So, finally we have decided to do both stock and a contest inspired by that gorgeous style.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Mucha - just type the name into google images and you'll be blown away by the options!
So, on to

Texture Your World Contest
We can't repeat this enough, PLEASE PLEASE make sure your submissions are the right size!!!!!!
Deadline is coming up VERY VERY SOON - 11th March So make sure you get your entries in on time!!!!!!
Texture Your World Contest
Texture Your World ContestTell us the story of your world in textures!
We are surrounded 24 hours a day by objects that have texture, they may be smooth or bobbly, old or new, bold, bright, shiny or dull. You might see a texture every day and never notice it until you start looking. Do you sit at a desk that's textured, or pass an interesting tree on the way to work or school?
We want you, in the form of a triptych (thats 3 images forming a larger image see example here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych ) to tell us the story of your textured world. Each individual texture should stand on its own, both as a useful resource and as a cohesive part of the whole story. What story you tell through your texture triptych is up to you - but they must be textures that tell a story of your world in some way.
There are 3 categories for this contest, each of which you can submit to twice.

However we've had a lot of artists asking for clarification on some of the rules of the contest and how they should go about making the most of their entries, so we've put a bit of a list together for you hereTake the time to explain your textures and how they relate to your world!
There is no reason why you can't put in a few details about why you chose the textures you did for your triptych and what they mean to you . In fact thi
