Changes to .zip file submissions that will affect you

I know some of you might already be aware of the changes that have happened if you have sent in help desk tickets about it, however for those of you who aren't yet aware; there has been a statement issued here -

Effectively, password protected zip files are no longer accepted on the site.

Matters Concerning ArchivesAs many of you know, archive file types represent a means to collect together a number of computer files and package them together for the purpose of backup, to transport them to some other location, or simply to compress them so that they take up less space. Many of you here in the deviantART community who offer stock resources, applications, themes and other desktop customization options are all very familiar with them and use them extensively, whether your file type of choice be .zip, .rar, or any one of another dozen options.
Depending on how regularly you submit and what sort of file type you use when you do so you may or may not have noticed a change- that change being that submissions with file types ending with .exe are no longer being accepted during the the submission process and if you've attempted to submit an archive file which was password protected you've noticed that those protected files are also being rejected during submission (alt

Whilst it is a huge disappointment that password protected zip files are no longer accepted, I would rather this be the case than to allow a potential access area for somebody to try and infect your computer by submitting what might look like a genuine stock pack or .exe file, and despite this being an inconvenience and what feels like a step back,  I'm sure you would all agree.

There are alternatives for submitting/sharing exclusive stock packs etc, including using your sta.sh for normal zip files as sta.sh is a private area, accessed only when you give out the sta.sh link of submitted - but unpublished work.
There are also various drop-boxes and hosting sites which might be worth investigating if you don't want to use sta.sh or your own hosting.

Just to be clear, NORMAL .ZIP files are unaffected.  This is ONLY a change affecting password protected zip files.

If you have any concerns or queries at all about this please contact the helpdesk directly!

Hmm...I can definitely understand the reasoning behind that decision, to be honest-very paranoid and cautious with zipfiles and viruses myself, as well!!Better safe than sorry and there're sure to be other ways to get those lovely stock packs uploaded and downloaded, as well!;)
